SUPPLIERS + ETHICS
Honest Productions
Treating every living being around you with respect.
Alice van Innis is a Brussels-based multidisciplinary artist. Every project starts from her drawing hand, from there on, the options are limitless. A radically sustainable, ethical, and transparent approach forms the backbone of her art practice
Here, sustainability and quality meet up with a drive towards using materials that are as ethical as possible. The production of these collections is taken care of by a Brussels-based social sewing workshop.
For my textile productions ALICE goes for 100% natural (mostly bio cotton) productions. From sewing thread to textile choices, the productions should be as natural and thus as recyclable as possible.

fair wear
Something becomes fair wear when labour conditions for textile and garment workers are correct.
This is still a difficult subject. What is correct ? What is fair ? What is ethical ?
To me it means that every living being involved in the proces of making a product is treated with respect, paid correctly and valued.
The wellbeing of both the producing and the consuming human being are key to me.
This manifests itself in an everlasting search for a fair production cycle and ethical materials.
Something is not fair because we call it fair, not green because we call it sustainable.
We need proof, certificates and therefor transparency.
I spend a lot of time looking for information, proof and improvement.
I will always try to make the best choice available.
Any feedback or extra info on how to do better is gratefully welcomed.
GOTS Label
"Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain, including restricting the use of chemical substances and requiring compliance with social criteria."
All digitally printed fabrics used in the production of my collection have the GOTS label.
ALICE van Innis does not have this label for textile production yet), since this is for bigger fish in the sea.
